How the Site Works: Ascend's mission is to take the pain out of personal finance for everyone. Not everyone who comes to our site is currently best fit for the Ascend product, so we spend a great deal of time and effort finding partners that we hope will be beneficial to you.

How We Make Money: Our partners sometimes compensate us in the way of advertising. Some partners we recommend pay us referral fees for sending them new customers. If you click through an application link on our site and end up receiving the service, we may receive compensation when your application is approved, and you move forward with this product. Each partner is vetted based on the following criteria:

  1. We prioritize lower interest rate providers.
  2. We prioritize those who do not penalize checking your rate or have prepayment penalties.
  3. We prioritize those that are customer experience focused. We measure this by the reviews on more unbiased review sites.

While a little difficult to read, the fine print on their website mentions: "Century Law Firm PLLC is a law firm. This website is an advertisement. It is not a lawyer referral service or prepaid legal services plan. Each of the lawyers on this site are either Of Counsels, Members, Partners, Limited Partners or staff attorneys."

Century Law Firm Services

To get started, you'd first book a free consultation with them to discuss your debt relief options. Based on their website, it sounds like they'd then create a tailored plan that is specific to your financial situation and to help you get out of debt. Though it's unclear what exactly their services are.

Further down on their 'Services' page, they mention "...our meticulous approach to negotiation and the implementation of strategic settlement plans." which sounds like debt settlement. If you're unfamiliar, part of the debt settlement process involves stopping payments to creditors, which leads to delinquency and lowers credit scores. While this is a common tactic to push creditors into negotiation, many companies fail to explain this clearly - leaving customers feeling misled.

So what do their reviews say?

Century Law Firm Reviews

Let's take a look at their reviews on TrustPilot, Better Business Bureau, and Google!

TrustPilot Reviews

On TrustPilot, they currently have a 4.7 rating out of 5-stars, based on over 700 reviews.

Looking through their reviews, and they're all incredibly positive. Often with positive reviews for other companies, we find that the customers either haven't started the service yet, or are just complimenting the customer service. But these reviews are very reassuring.

Switching over to their negative reviews, and it's the polar opposite. Reviewers mention that they're very slow to take action, unexpected extensions to the length of their program, and feeling a lack of transparency on how everything works.

Better Business Bureau Reviews

On Better Business Bureau, they also have a 4.77 rating out of 5-stars, based on over 375 reviews.

Their positive reviews are from clients that have been in the program anywhere from 5 months to 4 years, with nothing but good things to say. Specifically, they mention how good the communication has been.

But on the flip side, their negative reviews mention poor communication and feeling discouraged that the length of the program was extended.

Google Reviews

On Google, they have a 4.8 rating out of 5-stars, based on over 900 reviews.

Like we've seen with both BBB and TrustPilot, they have incredibly positive reviews from long-time clients that have nothing but good things to say, which is definitely encouraging.

However, their 1-star reviews express disappointment with the program, mentioning the program being dragged on for much longer than expected and feeling worse off than when they started. Ultimately, the reviews are pretty mixed across the board.
