How the Site Works: Ascend's mission is to take the pain out of personal finance for everyone. Not everyone who comes to our site is currently best fit for the Ascend product, so we spend a great deal of time and effort finding partners that we hope will be beneficial to you.

How We Make Money: Our partners sometimes compensate us in the way of advertising. Some partners we recommend pay us referral fees for sending them new customers. If you click through an application link on our site and end up receiving the service, we may receive compensation when your application is approved, and you move forward with this product. Each partner is vetted based on the following criteria:

  1. We prioritize lower interest rate providers.
  2. We prioritize those who do not penalize checking your rate or have prepayment penalties.
  3. We prioritize those that are customer experience focused. We measure this by the reviews on more unbiased review sites.

Did you receive a mailer with a "check" from 7550 Corporate Way Eden Prairie, MN?

Prudent Financial Mailer

After reviewing the mailer, it appears to be a pre-qualification offer from Prudent Financial Prequalification, featuring a 7.49% interest rate. This offer is specifically targeted at those who are already behind on their debt.

Clear Skies Lending Mailer

Or perhaps your mailer was from Clear Skies Lending instead, which we will dive further into in this article. But it's worth noting that the mailer was sent from the same address as the Prudent Financial mailer. At this time, it's unclear to us if the two companies are connected in any way.

Who is Prudent Financial Solutions?

Prudent Financial Solutions is a financial services company specializing in debt relief and consolidation.

What Kind of Services Does Prudent Financial Solutions Offer?

Their services include:
  • Debt consolidation
  • Home Equity Lines of Credit (HELOCs)
  • Cash-out refinancing
  • 401k loans
Additionally, they provide financial calculators to help clients estimate credit card payments and debt payoff timelines.

What is Debt Consolidation?

You might receive a mailer stating that you qualify for a debt consolidation loan, but when you call the company, you're told you don’t qualify for the loan - only for the program instead. And there's a big difference between consolidation loans vs. consolidation programs.

How Long Has Prudent Financial Solutions Been in Business?

According to Better Business Bureau, Prudent Financial Solutions opened in 2020. I also want to note that Prudent Financial Solutions is not BBB Accredited.

Prudent Financial Solutions Reviews

Let's see what the reviews say!

Google Reviews

On Google, they currently have a 4.8 rating out of 5-stars, based on 578 reviews. Let's take a closer look:

While there are plenty of positive reviews, it's important to note that most of them are commenting on the positive experience that came with speaking to a representative - not actually going through the program itself. But what about a review from someone that did go through the program?

This client initially wrote a positive review, but later went on to edit it, stating that: "A promising beginning ended up becoming a nightmare." They also mention the company 'Debt Blue', meaning that Prudent Financial Solutions more than likely is serving as a front-end marketing firm and forwarding clients to Debt Blue.

Several low-rated reviews mention receiving pre-qualification letters for a debt consolidation loan, only to call and be offered a debt consolidation program through one of the company's "partners" instead. Unfortunately, this is a common tactic known as bait-and-switch. Additionally, many debt settlement companies are not fully transparent regarding how the process actually works, leading clients to feel misled.

Better Business Bureau Reviews

Currently on Better Business Bureau, they have a 3.67 rating out of 5-stars, based on 15 reviews.
Similarly to the Google reviews, you'll find a handful of clients that rave over their positive customer service experience, but have not gone through the program from start to finish.

Also just like the Google reviews, you'll find that they mention receiving a pre-approved mailer for a loan, only to find that they don't actually qualify, which then leads them into a debt consolidation program.

Looking for a Debt Consolidation Loan?

If you're looking for a debt consolidation loan, feel free to take our free debt consolidation loan calculator below! No personal information is required unless you want to provide it.

You'll find three different debt consolidation loan options using this calculator, it will even provide an estimated cost for alternative debt consolidation methods, like non-profit credit counseling (which helps lower interest rates through an agency).

What About Non-Profit Counseling?

Non-profit counseling is a free or low-cost option where you're paired with a credit counselor to help you understand your debt and create a plan to help you lower your payments and interest rates. (This is one of the options mentioned in the calculator above as well.) Non-profit credit counseling can be especially helpful if you don't qualify for a debt consolidation loan.

Closing Thoughts

If you’re not at risk of falling behind, it might be worth exploring other options before committing to a debt consolidation program. Before enrolling in a debt consolidation program with any company, ask yourself: "If nothing changes, will I struggle to keep up with my debt payments?" Debt settlement can reduce your overall debt burden, making it a more affordable option. However, as a debt relief method, it comes with both advantages and drawbacks. It's essential to weigh the pros and cons before deciding if it's the right financial solution for you.

You deserve to work with a company you can trust and that has your best interest in mind. Being in debt can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to face it alone. At Ascend, we encourage you to explore your options sooner rather than later, as early action provides you with more choices and reduces stress. Whether it’s debt settlement, bankruptcy, or consolidation, understanding your options is crucial for making an informed decision and getting on the path to financial freedom.
